Four US cities - CHICAGO architecture

Chicago was our first stop on the way to the East Coast (Philadelphia, Washinton, New York). The weather was amazing - sunny and warm and we were wandering around ligtly dressed, enjoying every moment of the big "european" city.

Chicago Theatre is on of the most typical spots and eager photographer's targets in the town.

...I haven't seen any play there yet. Maybe in the future.

On the left side, there are Corn Cob Towers (kukuricne klasy). Who would guess it in Illinois - Mid West of the USA? :]]

Detail of the Corn Cob Tower.

View on the downtown from a bridge.

Look at the color of the water behind me...It is brightly green. Dyeing (coloring) of Chicago river is an event which takes place annualy as a part of Saint Patrick's day celebration. I think it is horrible...time ago somebody even died from drinking the water. Today they are using natural colors, but who knows :}

St. Patrick's day is an Irish feast and it a celebration of Spring. The custom came to America in 1737. That was the first year it was publicly celebrated in this country, in Boston. At night everybody "goes Irish" and gets really drunk.

This photo was made from plane by Marketa's boyfriend Pavel, who came to spend the springbreak with us on East coast. We met him in Chicago. Actually, it was his idea to travel :]
